Sony Ericsson W980i

Sony Ericsson's latest Walkman phone is a tasty clamshell, compact enough to fit in a shirt pocket, but more than capable of becoming his main music player.

The top of the shell hidden beautiful music controls, which are illuminated orange, to jump tracks and access to playlists without opening the phone. Moreover there Shake Control and Sony crossbar intuitive menu, seen in the PS3 and goggleboxes Bravia.

The sound quality is quite impressive, though, MegaBass ensures that effortlessly handles bass-happy melodies and there is a new FM transmitter. There is no card slot, instead of reaching a mammoth 8GB of internal memory, so yes, comparisons with the iPhone 3G will, but the W980i triumphs for battery performance. We eeked three days of juice with moderate calls, texts and navigation, and nearly a day of music playback.

Therefore, great emphasis on music, it means suffering other features. You get HSDPA to load pages faster, but the screen is a bit pokey to navigate for too long, like the 3.2MP camera takes decent shots, but the position of the lens in the back, means lost fingers easily ruin pocket masterpieces.

As mobile music, Sony Ericsson to a winner here. It is compact, sexy, intelligent, with controls, excellent battery and a great memory - in short a real rival for iPhone 3G. As a browser and snapper that disappointed, but stick to music and you will not be disappointed.
